Leah and Dylan’s DIY Backyard Wedding in Livermore, CA
A wedding is such an important and exciting day for every to-be-bride that many put lots of energy and time into planning and organizing their weddings. No doubt one of the first and important items to plan for and try to get reservation for is: the wedding venue. Some location are so popular and in high demand that sometimes it takes years ahead to be able to reserve it. And how many couples go about accommodating all the wedding guests: by booking a large venue.
Some couples however prefer small and intimate weddings with just small group of immediate family members and friends. In my opinion, this results into less overwhelming and more relaxed and outgoing wedding. These DIY (Do It Yourself) weddings are usually at private residences or estates and because the guests are limited to and everyone already have been at the wedding location, it results into more time together and more fun. More on the different Wedding Photography Styles.
Leah and Dylan’s planned to have their DIY wedding at Leah’s parents house in Livermore, CA. Both the ceremony and reception afterwards are to be held in the backyard on a hot summer day. The bridal preparation was also in the house, so no travel required between location and worrying about being late for one event or another.
Leah grew up in Livermore, CA but went to college in Michigan where she met Dylan at the University of Michigan. They both later moved back to California and settled down in San Francisco Bay Area.
On the day of the ceremony, the couple decided to do a first look (where Dylan planned to see Leah by surprise in her wedding dress before the ceremony). This unique encounter provided an excellent opportunity to capture the genuine emotions between the bride and the groom. The look on Dylan’s face as he saw his future bride in her stunning wedding dress was truly a moment to remember.
Later in the day, Leah’s father administered the wedding ceremony in a small circle of immediate family and close friends. Leah was in tears when her father pronounced them husband and wife. What an authentic emotion to a memorable moment.
Leah has been planning and organizing everything for weeks already. From the fresh flowers, to decoration to catering and refreshments, everything was the way she has envisioned. The wedding reception style was Provance with lots of pink colors and succulents as decorations. And while the backyard from being converted from a ceremony to reception area, I had a chance to photograph both the table decorations and bridal details as: the rings, the shoes and bridal jewelry.
The reception, taking place under a blue summer’s sky was magical. The addition of overhead lighting mixed with the careful arrangements of the decorations produced an overwhelmingly romantic mood for the evening. Nothing could have made this night more enjoyable and exciting as sharing the wedding moments with people you know and love.
Leah and Dylan loved the way their wedding photos turned out. Leah was pleasantly surprised to see her DVD album with additional mounted printed on the cover. I was delighted as well to read Lean's review on Yelp for my services. It fills my heart with joy to see my clients so happy with the images from their wedding and cherishing the moments captures in my photographs.
